This park is named for American Patriot and Naval hero, John Paul Jones (1747-1792), who, through victorious leadership in the American Revolution, became known as “the father of the Navy.”

Locally called Cannonball Park because of the gigantic Parrot cannon, Rodman, and 50 cannonballs, this park is right in the shadow of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Kids would love climbing to the top of the cannon, and it’s a great picnic spot.
